Steel dredge bottom doors

Bottom Door means having self-propelled bunkering functional and non-self-propelled Dredger carrying ship or dredged material (commonly known as mud Barge) Disposing dredged material dedicated facilities. Bottom door are relative terms, it is a dedicated loading bay dredged material (commonly known as the hopper) dump device.

A.    General

The bottom doors are operated by rods actuated by hydraulic cylinders, generally mounted above the hopper. The cylinders can also be placed in the hopper or in void spaces. The design of the doors is such that surface smoothness ensures fast discharge and, if repairs are needed, they are relatively easy to remove from the ship. Pre-dumping doors and self-suction channel doors can also be installed in the hopper bottom.

B. Construction and procedure

The construction is to be built according to the drawing with rules of good workmanship.

There are two distinct variants of bottom doors; single and double. Both are of hinged, closed box-type construction, complete with necessary lifting eyes. They are selected according to vessel configuration, discharge speed required and size of hopper.

C. Materials

All steel used to be blasted and shop primed both sides. Using Q345D, DH36

All materials proposed will be selected to comply with the latest Health and Safety Rules.

Paint systems for hull protection will be of the highest quality (Hempel, Inter, Sigma, Jotun)
